Coherent with the Chinese Course, this book maintains the traditional style to include clear arrangement of grammar points and a variety of exercises. Meanwhile it selects articles of common appeal to the students. Explanation of the words and contrast of word usage are provided to help students improve their usage of words and sentences. It contains two volumes, each of which has 18 lessons, which can be completed in a school year. Upon completion, the students will acquire about 2,500 new words, and master the usage of 150 pairs of synonyms.
Yang Jizhou, a professor in Beijing Language and Culture University, has been engaged in teaching and research on Chinese as a foreign language and in compilation of TCFL textbooks for a long time.
